There is a NeXT-like login.app out there.  It's at least in Debian
slink but it may be elsewhere.  I believe it's designed to be used
with WindowMaker.  It has a but of a different architecture though.

The KDE folks have hacked up xdm and renamed it kdm.  I don't use it,
though, because of license issues.
