SHORT ANSWER:  mc

a)  open an xterm
b)  mc
c)  follow the tree to the directory you want to delete.  Use su if it
is outside         your /home dir.
d)  F8
e)  "Directory is not empty.  Delete recursively?"
f)  y
g)  enter
