I might suggest not using sendmail. :)  Although I like sendmail
personally... if I was learning from scratch again, I would hope somebody
would stear me away from it :)

If you like sendmail, tho... postfix may be a good alternative.  I've used
both, and find them both to be good choices.

For a real 'small' or simple setup, I sometimes use exim, though... just b/c
it's easy to configure for simple things.  (It may also be simple to
configure for complex things, but I've never tried, and have never had a
reason to)
