I am trying to install the update for glibc 2.2 on RH7. (the distributed
glibc is 2.1)
It is giving me dependency errors and I can't seem to get past them.
to upgrade glibc I use the command
rpm -Fvh glibc-2.2-12.i386.rpm
the response is
error: Failed dependencies
glibc-common = 2.2 is required by glibc-2.2-12
then I try to do the glibc-common first (It is not installed with glibc
2.1)
rpm -i glibc-common-2.2-12.i386.rpm
the response is
error: Failed dependencies
glibc < 2.2-12 conflicts with glibc-common-2.2-12
I thought about uninstalling glibc and then installing the newer
version, but it gives a list of 40+ packages that are dependent on glibc and
will not uninstall.
Does anyone have a fix for this, or suggestions on how to do the upgrade for
glibc and the supporting packages???
