[linux-help] Linux install question on an HP Netserver LXRpro8

I'm trying to install linux on a netserver which is currently running NT.
Is there a way I can install LILO first without installing linux?  That
might sound like a dumb question.  but if it is, just let me down easy!  

Also, is anyone familiar with Loadlin?  I tried booting linux with loadlin,
but failed miserably.  Is loadlin not compatible with windows NT?
