First, please make sure you have the latest version. It is 3.0r3 as far as I
know. Find this information by right-clicking on HPComm.exe, select Properties,
select Version tab, observe the File Version. If it isn't 3.0r3, visit the web
site <http://www.hpcomm.org> and get the latest version.

If you already have 3.0r3, then PERHAPS (I am not a Windows expert) the
following will help.

Do "Find File" (from Start menu) and locate all copies of MFC42.DLL on your
system disk.
On each one, note the location ("In Folder" column of the listing), then
right-click, view Properties, select the Version tab, select Item Name Product
Version and note two numbers:
"File Version", at the top of the panel
"Product Version" under "Item Name" and note the value.
For my system, which DOES work with the PC Connectivity Kit, I have the
following:
in WINNT\SYSTEM32 (probably the one mainly in use):
File 6.00.8447.0, Product version 6.0.300

in Iomg_NT (Zip drive software, I believe):
File 4.21.7303, Product version 5.0.000

If your running version (anybody able to explain how NT decides where to load
this dll from when it's needed by a program? anybody able to give a brief
tutorial on how Dynamic Link Libraries work?) is different from mine, perhaps
you should download (anybody know where from?) a more current version.

P.S. Bitte entschuldigen Sie das ich schriebe nicht auf Deutsch--seiner Englisch
