[gopher] Gopherspace in Onion land?

I asked my self why gopher is not much more propular in Onion land? Most
people there use very minimalistic HTML and link images instaed of using
<img>. Those websites feels a lot like gopher space.

So, why is gopher not that poplular there? I don't know any gopher
server in Onion land. What can we do about that (in case we want to do
something)? Which clients can handle proxys for simpler access? Which
not but can be patched?...

What are your opinions about this?
