Hey Ive got a bunch of suggestions for extending the types of units. 1) 'Riverine' flag for Sea units, allows them to travel rivers ( and small canals). What seems sensible or not can then be determined by a ruleset. 2) 'Hover' class, for Hovercraft, allows travel over Ocean, Desert, Swamp, Plains, & maybe Roads. 3) 'Road', subclass of Land, this unit only travels by road. Suitable for Trucks. # my favourite 4) 'Ballistic', for missiles. In rndCiv the ICBM unit has a range of 40. Now it seems stupid that this unit has a vision of 1, but if you set it to zero then the missile will prolly detonate on some poor worker miles from it's target. Also, it seems that a fighter set to Auto attack would have a decent chance of shooting the missile down. Not Realistic. The 'Ballistic' flag models a ballistic trajectory. Point at the target tile and it arrives there and detonates. Walls of warriors in the way have no effect - it just goes over them. Also, you can't use it for reconnaissance, so if there's nothing there, well tough luck. Missiles don't loiter looking for targets of opportunity. Maybe you could model this with a move of 1, and a paradrop of 40? 5) Less important, would be a 'Submarine' flag, so you could have poles that were floating ice, that the subs can go under. Also may allow you to go under a naval blockade. The idea of layers has been discussed years ago. -billy
