[Freeciv] game database/ranking?

Hi,

according to [1]  no games have been added to the ranking database since 
Wed 11 Sep 2002 02:29:14 AM PDT. Additionally, probably related, [2] 
does not list any games under 'running'. And when the numbers restarted 
by 1, I thought the database was reset but some later games have high 
numbers again.

Obviously, the database is being worked on. However, would it be 
possible to leave a note when this is the case? What is being done exactly?
