Fine description of my own strategy. I have mixed feelings about this
being publicized :)
A related question: can we agree on a MIME type for .sav files,
application/x-freeciv
or
application/x-freeciv-game
? It would be nice to simply publish savefiles and support a mechanism to
view games directly off the Web. I now have
application/x-freeciv-game sav
in ~/.mime.tupes, and
application/x-freeciv-game; civclient & xterm -e civserver -n -f %s
in ~/.mailcap, and it works fine.
