The SDL client is badly out of date and not worth considering.  The XAW
client is only slightly out of date (it was broken recently and the
maintainer hasn't fixed it yet); you could probably compile the XAW
version from 1 month ago.

You should also try to compile the gtk2 client which should work on
macosx if you install the appropriate libraries.
