I do not know. Try asking on Gentoo forums or check their FAQs. Surely
this must be a frequent problem. Gentoo is a developer's nightmare.

The only thing I can suggest is to try to recompile glibc, and perhaps
other libraries used by Freeciv, with debug symbols on.
