I've been trying out gen 6 on the pubserver, here's my thoughts so far.

I like the poles, having them 3 squares thick and mostly tundra, with some
ice and some mountains is nice. It might look a little nicer if it wasn't
-quite- so uniformly 3 squares deep though.

The peninsulas are nice, but same thing, they could stand to be a -little-
less uniform. I know the idea was a "fair" map, but it seems like a -bit-
more variation could be managed without messing that up.

I like the land bridge. I like it a lot. Too much, in fact. It's too
big a piece of land, as compared to the peninsulas - the people who start
right next to it have quite the advantage.

Also, I suppose there'll be various oppinions on this, but personally I
find having sea travel cut off, but just in that one spot, to be kind of
odd. I think we'll find that there are a -lot- of advantages in being one
of the players right next to the land bridge.

I think gen 6 maps would prove a bit more fair, if the land bridge had
less landmass, ie, if it were narrower. Also, if there were usually a
spot or two where ships could angle their way through diagonally, and/or
spots where cities could be built which would serve as passage points,
that would be cool.

I found a bug, as well. When I set ysize over somewhere around 63, (61
worked, 65 didn't, I got sick of testing), it didn't work. It didn't give
any error messages, but the game ended up being on gen 5. Per said on IRC
that he was uploading some fixes to the beta4 server, so I don't know, but
as of like half an hour ago I still got this problem.

Having critiqued so much, let me say that all-in-all I like it. More
options++. Might be interesting at some point to have an option where the
generator is randomly selected, just for those days when you don't want to
have any idea what you're getting yourself into. :-)
