I tried to but cannot reproduce. I notice the server seems to respond
faster, popping down the connect dialog, in S1_14. Perhaps that is the
reason. Or perhaps something else needed cleaning up in that eliminated
branch.

Regardless of any of that, I do not like spammer clients, if the
connection is still in progress you should not be allowed to start
another connection.
