So do I.  It's kind of annoying, to steadily change the suggested name
of a city in case for example you simply don't like it.

Not necessarily.  You could keep track of the number of towns a player
built during the game in a counter variable.  Then the suggested name
for a newly founded city will be counter + 1 of the list of city-names
in the ruleset.
