I've just uploaded new Slackware packages for Freeciv 1.13.0 to
ftp.freeciv.org. Following files have been uploaded:

freeciv-1.13.0.slackware.txt
freeciv-client-gtk-1.13.0-i386-1.tgz
freeciv-client-gtk-1.13.0-i386-1.txt
freeciv-client-xaw3d-1.13.0-i386-1.tgz
freeciv-client-xaw3d-1.13.0-i386-1.txt
freeciv-common-1.13.0-i386-1.tgz
freeciv-common-1.13.0-i386-1.txt
freeciv-server-1.13.0-i386-1.tgz
freeciv-server-1.13.0-i386-1.txt

freeciv-1.13.0.slackware.txt should be renamed to README. *.txt files are
there just for users of pre-8.1 Slackware and should not be linked from
Download page on web.

These packages were built on Slackware 8.1 and I did not test them on
older distributions. It may however work on 8.0. If someone wants to build
packages for older distributions (mainly 8.0), please, contact me on
src@xxxxxxxx.

Contents of freeciv-1.13.0.slackware.txt follows at the end of this mail.

Have a nice day.

Freeciv 1.13.0 Slackware packages (Jul 21 2002) notes
==============================================================================
Packaged by Stepan Roh <src@xxxxxxxx>

This README is stored in freeciv-common package as file named
/usr/doc/freeciv-1.13.0/SLACKWARE_PACKAGE.

These packages were built on Slackware 8.1. They may not work on previous
versions of Slackware.

Installation
------------

Following packages are offered:

freeciv-common-1.13.0-i386-1.tgz contains files (like locales, data
files and documentation) needed by all
                                        other packages
freeciv-server-1.13.0-i386-1.tgz contains Freeciv server
freeciv-client-xaw3d-1.13.0-i386-1.tgz contains Freeciv Xaw3D client
freeciv-client-gtk-1.13.0-i386-1.tgz contains Freeciv Gtk+ client

Only one client package is needed. Client binaries are civclient-xaw3d and
civclient-gtk. Last installed client package will set symlink to civclient.

Xaw3D client requires xfree86 and xaw3d packages to be installed. GTK+ client
requires xfree86, gtk+ and imlib packages. Both clients require esound package
to be installed.

Everything is installed under /usr hierarchy.

Installation (for upgrade see following chapter) is done with command (run
it as root):

  installpkg <package>

For example:

  installpkg freeciv-common-1.13.0-i386-1.tgz

Upgrade from previous package version
-------------------------------------

Execute as root:

  upgradepkg <package>

For example:

  upgradepkg freeciv-common-1.13.0-i386-1.tgz

Upgrade from older or 3rd-party packages
----------------------------------------

Because there are so many versions of Freeciv packages around, I suggest to
remove them before installing new packages.

Use following commands (as root) to get rid of all those old packages:

# cd /var/log/packages; removepkg *freeciv*

Then proceed to normal installation as describe above.

Notes
-----

Sound support is enabled, but no sound sets are provided.
