Now that Freeciv 1.13.0 is out, I'll begin doing serious development in
my _Mare Infinitus_ modpack. In a nutshell, this modpack will present
world maps consisting of large seas, with lots of tiny islands. The tech
tree will be simplified (for example, railroads don't make any sense
here, so they won't be present), many land units will be removed and a
few new sea based ones will appear.

What do I have so far? A world map generator, written in (don't kill me
for this) Perl. My next step is revise in detail the tech tree, then
revise the buildings and units rulesets. All development will be
published in my Freeciv webpage: htpp://www.farah.cl/Freeciv/ .

As usual, I'm all open for suggestions and ideas.

I do have a couple of questions, though:

1) Could the map generator be integrated into Freeciv, if it came to
   that?

2) There is ONE unit I definitely want to include in the modpack: a
fishing factory ("farms" a 3x3 square sea area, extracting the
available food, and feeds it to the city it belongs to; this lets a
city grow much larger than its 21 squares will support).

Unless I am severely mistaken, this one unit would require modifying
source code, which I am (I must confess) in no condition to do. I'll
require help from someone who can do it.

That's it for now.
