   Had you previously installed the game from RPM, and were you trying to
start the game from the menu (instead of the command line)?  If so, a
'make install' probably updated the binary and tilesets; the menu will
still exec 'civclient --tiles [trident|engels]'.  What happens when you
run 'civclient --tiles hires' from the command line?
