Some suggestions:

1. Zoomable map  (like civ2)
   it would be cool if you can uoom in/out with +/-


2. Dialogues with AI-Players. That you can trade, diskuss/trade about
war/friedship
   with Computer-Players (Alpha Centaury has a some good implementation of
that).
