If that is the case then I would bet Microprose gave Monty Python a
quick phone call to check if it was ok to use the sound.  They are a
company and are presumably professional enough to avoid being
needlessly sued.

The best way to avoid future legal issues is to make freeciv into
something more than a Civ(tm) clone.  Give it a couple of years.
