Sorry about the waste of bandwith.

Lauri

and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs, and who comes up
short again and again, who knows the great enthusiasms, the great
devotions, and spends himself in a worthy cause. The man who at best
knows the triumph of high achievement and who at worst, if he fails,
fails while daring greatly, so that his place will never be with those
cold timid souls who never knew victory or defeat." - Theodore Roosevelt

I would say that long quotation in every message from you is more waste
of bandwidth.

Estimating the signature to take 100 bytes more than the standard 80 chars * 4 lines, you'd need ~120 such posts to "waste" as much bandwidth as that one resent patch. So no, the quotation is not a greater waste of bandwidth (or at least not yet, anyway).
