Because Slackware Freeciv 1.11.4 package is very old I made a new one,
it's uploaded on ftp.freeciv.org/pub/freeciv/incoming as
freeciv-1.11.4-glibc2.1-gtk-1.tgz and
freeciv-1.11.4-glibc2.1-gtk-1.tgz.README
My package follows standard Slackware rules (not as the old one package) -
it installs itself under /usr not /usr/local and has documentation also.
This is file freeciv-1.11.4-glibc2.1-gtk-1.tgz.README (as well as file
installed as /usr/doc/freeciv-1.11.4/SLACKWARE_PACKAGE) :
===================================================================
Slackware package freeciv-1.11.4-glibc2.1-gtk-1 notes (Jul 23 2000)
===================================================================
This package was built on Slackware 7.0, but should work on any Slack with
glibc-2.1 (possibly glibc-2.0, I didn't test it) and GTK+. Server is
compiled with libreadline support. It consists of Freeciv 1.11.4 server
and GTK+ client binaries along with all the necessary data files (rules,
tilesets), documentation (README, NEWS, ChangeLog) and locales
(freeciv.mo). All these files are installed under /usr directory (binaries
under /usr/bin, docs under /usr/doc/freeciv-1.11.4, data files under
/usr/share/freeciv and locales under /usr/share/locale/...).

I'm planning to made a new package (or set of packages) : data package,
gtk client package and xaw client package. I'll wait for next release,
maybe. These packages would be good to include freeciv into Slackware
distribution, I hope.
Have a nice day,
Stepan Roh
