[Freeciv-Dev] "received bad string" error

Running the Jan-29 CVS snapshot, when I change tech goal
in the gtk client, I get an error:

1: received bad string in packet (type 54, len 112) from arobeia

coming up from the server. It seems to work anyway.  I don't know the
client & packet-handling code well enough to work out what's causing
it.
