The option to select 'gender' in the nation selection dialog,
when the game is started, is a recent addition.  Its only effect
is on the default ruler's name, and the way you are addressed during
the name (a male ruler is 'Mr.', for instance).  It doesn't actually
affect the game.  If you have any suggestions how being male or female
could make a difference, let us know :)
