[Freeciv-Dev] towards 1.8.1

Hi developers,

I think it is about time we make a 1.8.1 release, soon.

Are there any important bugs which should really be fixed
before the release?  Or patches which haven't been applied
which should be?  (Preferably only bugfix or other important
patches, at this stage.)  

Any such bugs, or patches, which are not currently in the 
bug tracking system, please submit them there.

One bug which would be nice to have some fix for is PR#18
(Delay opening GTK city display) (also related to PR#12,
assert failed with the GTK client), since this gets very
annoying if you have an older version of GTK+.  Or if we can't 
fix this, should be just _require_ a recent enough GTK+ ? :-/  
(That would be >= 1.2.3, compared to currently >= 1.2.1.)

(Other things needing doing include some minor doc updates.)
