[Freeciv-Dev] Another Freeciv Manual Draft[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index] [Thread Index]
Another draft of a Freeciv User's Manual has been uploaded to ftp.freeciv.org /pub/freeciv/incoming, a tarball named manual-Feb-28.tar.bz2; it should make its way to /pub/freeciv/contrib/manual. It incorporates all comments received from various kind reviewers, and also all changes made to the code up through the CVS drop of February 28. Please take another look at it. I hope to have it acceptable enough to be part of the website when 1.8.0 is released (if whoever sets that up can take care of this). It includes both Xaw and GTK+ client documentation and window screenshots, and is mostly suitable for 1.8.0 users (but users of older versions will find much useful). I intend to watch progress in CVS this week and will make sure to upload an updated manual near week-end if anything needs to be adjusted. Once this is done, I plan to keep maintaining the document to be ready for 1.8.1, and also to begin on a third major section, describing the game concepts and elements; this latter will be largely stolen from the online documentation, repackaged into HTML, and augmented with screenshots. This would help those who don't have prior experience with Civ/CivII and don't really know the rules. David King
