COX is a content provider and as such can inform providers such as 'Discovery,
or TBS-HD' that they will not carry "Stretch-O-Vision" programing on their HD
tier feed.
From feed back on a number of message bases both TBS & TNT are sending out
"Stretched" programing as their HD feed.... It makes actors such as 'Tim Allen'
[Home Improvment] look as if they lost weight to play "Santa" in his three
"Santa Clause" movies...

I just started receiving 21 new HD channels via DirecTV and while many are full
correct "Original Aspect Ratio", TBS, TNT and A&E are the worse of these new
channels to use "Stretch-O-Vision" to fill a 16X9 HD-TV screen, the 'newer' (5
differeent) Discovery channels all carry some "Stretch-O-Vision" images..
mainly with commericals.. but they are also stretching the image on some other
programing to fill the screen.

Most all HD-TV's have a fill screen feature and if the end viewer wishes to
view a 'FILLED SCREEN' allow the end viewer to use their sets setting.

This is much like the "Widescreen Vs Full" screen fight in the early days of
DVD's

1) I've never known Cox to do this.
2) The cable/satelite companies don't control what signal the stations
send them. If a channel is doing this (and again, I'm not aware of one
that does), then contact *that channel*. Cox doesn't control the
channel (with a couple of exceptions--like the Cox Sports channel, that
isn't broadcast in HD (yet) anyway).
