You see.. the problem is in the fact that you "grew up"... :)

Actually... I like a lot of music--including the melodic music you refer
to, as well as a lot of music that I'm sure you would consider "noise." 
In fact, a lot of the music I like, I at one time considered noise as
well.  Maybe it's something that grows on you.
I can understand how a person would consider it noise.  I can also
understand why someone would like it.
Someone who takes offense to your statements might as well take offense to
my preference for Cookies & Cream ice cream, as well.  Or another person's
preference for bologna instead of ham & cheese.
