[aclug-L] Re: make use of using an old 486DX machine

you could use it as a firewall if you wanted...  or various other
things...  um...  not long ago, i had a bunch of ideas, but now i forgot
them all! : ^ )  you could set it up just to get more experience in
networking linux w/ linux, *BSD, or whatever OS you want to...  (assuming
you want more experience!)..  this is the main reason i'm using my
parents old 486DX2/66...  that, and i want to try out some of the BSD
derivatives, but i'm using all the drives in my main computer right now,
and i'm too lazy to do any swapping (however, i want to just to screw
around w/ a prerelease of WinXP i got from a cd.image newsgroup! : ^ )

you could also use it as a "remote" mp3 player...  set it up in your
living room or another room where you want music that your main computer
can't really cover, use nfs to mount your partition full of mp3z locally,
and play in either room (or both!)  : ^ )
