I think xcdroast is probably as good as it gets for GUI's. It does work
very well and I am happy with it. I feel no urge to learn how to
use the arguments of the command line cd-r programs for which xcdroast is
a front-end for.

As to where to put it, rpm should take care of installation unless your
system doesen't use rpm's. In that case, I too suggest /usr/local/bin
