Hi, Rashmi, 

  make sure the permission on Lilo.conf is:
-rw-r--r--   1 root     root       /etc/lilo.conf
and you can only change it as long as you are root.
And If you really did change something, make sure you
re-run /sbin/lilo again. Hope it helps.
