Hmmm... Then I must have done something wrong, b/c I have X installed and
fully functional in under 120mb

/dev/hdb1             297397  119677   162360     42%   /

A single partition for the entire Linux OS, including X Windows on a 340mb
HD.  Less than 120mb is actually used as you can see above.
