Disclaimer: I don't know anything about NT.
If NT can mount NFS drives, then yes, NFS will work.
Samba will work; can you be a bit more verbose about the error?
I would recommend that you make a "public" share of what you want to
share. See the smb.conf manpage for examples. I also remember a quirk
with NT and Samba where you need to have a certain mode of
authentication/encryption; the samba documentation thoroughly explains
this in capital letters somewhere.
