Hi Everyone.

I am trying to figure out how to run a command once when logging into
my Debian box from the getty login prompt. I tried .profile, but bash
doesn't seem to read it, opting to read .bash_profile instead. I do
start my xterms as login shells, so I'm trying to avoid a bunch of
warnings from Fetchmail (the program I want to run as a daemon at
login) each time I open a new xterm. Non-login shells read .bashrc
but I have some things set differently for non-login shells so they
play better when started from within certain programs. Am I overlooking
something obvious here?

Thanks,

- Nate >>
