My preference of brands (in order of preference) is as follows:

Fujitsu
Western Digital
Seagate
.
.
.
Tonka
Fisher Price
Rubbermaid
.
.
.
Maxtor
Conner

As far as WHERE to buy them, you'll save a lot of money if you shop around
online.
