Have you tried killing netscape?

Also... you might run a ping command to keep your connection active:

ping -i 300 isps.host.com

This will ping your ISP every 5 minutes to keep them from thinking your
connection is idle.  WARNING: Don't do this unless you're REALLY using the
computer.  Some people have a habit of running things like this 24/7, which
can really piss off your ISP and may get your account closed, depending on
how strict they are.
