I just bit the bullet and bought the OSS package.  I haven't installed it
yet, but it's supposed to handle Sound Blaster at least.  It's designed to
be trouble free.  I understand that the PCI variety are the most
troublesome for LINUX due to the little PnP snafus.

Hope this helps.  The OSS package was pretty cheap.
