You don't delete /proc.  /proc is not a real filesystem anyway.  It's just
a filesystem-type representation of various system information.  It takes
up no physical disk space.

Backing up /dev is kinda pointless... if you accidentally rm /dev, chances
are you won't have a chance to restore your backup anyway...  It would
then be time for a reinstall. :-)
