As you yourself point out, it works most of the time. When I am wanting to
locate my box, I am not wanting it to be a random chance based on whether or
not a free service is working or not. I want it to be a known process that
can be fixed if broken on my end by either tweaking my hardware or
contacting my ISP to find out what they changed on their end.

I would just send myself an email, however my ISP changed the way it allows
one to log into the pop3 mail server. I can no longer access it unless I am
logged into the ISP. In other words even though I have an account and
password, unless I am attempting it through their connection, I can't
access....

thanks again,
spiff
