I'm not sure how many others out there have had the nightmare I've had trying to get RedHat 5.1 (admittedly one of the easiest versions) going, but I found something I've been crying for since last summer. I have little or no time for exhaustive searches through the readme's or to attend install sessions or to get involved in online help with any of those who have offered. I think I was on slashdot, but honestly can't remember exactly, and got reference to this. I emailed the guy and got this back right away. I printed it out, followed the instructions exactly, and it worked first time. It's not a perfect environment, but it's worlds better than what I had. Now I just need to enter the TCP/IP address and, hopefully, will finally have a Linux box that works on the Net.

I've attached the file for anyone who's interested. My open question is, could we possibly do this exact thing for Debian, Slackware, etc. to assist morons like me with the initial powerup until the environment is stable enough to fine tune?

Hi. Here's the Newbie's Linux Manual you requested. I hope you enjoy your venture into the world of Linux!

This manual is new, and as such, is still under development. It is being updated daily, so I recommend going to :

www.thebits.co.uk

...to retrieve the day's update. I have attached the latest copy, enjoy ;)

Thanks to all who have endured my complaints.

Jeff
