Hi Wasson,

Well, few things you can do... first check your /etc/printcap.. change
the lp0 to lp1 as your first lp interface ..stop and restart lpd and do
a cat somefile.txt > /dev/lp1 and see what happens.

Also you might want to check your bios.. and see how your parallel port
is setup..whether its setup as ecc or epp or auto or enabled. try
switching to different settings and see if that eliminate the problem or
not.
