[aclug-L] RH 5.1 video, revised

I found Xconfigurator and reset the monitor setting to Custom and picked
conservative settings but it still blanks out permanently when the system
probes it.  I'm using std. VGA at home for this very reason since I don't
know the settings for my monitor there.  Any suggestions?  I'm using a
Gateway 17", Mod # YE0711-01.
