ok, with the RedHat 5.1 standard ghostscript-3.33-8, i had no problems
printing from StarOffice and any other programs that used the postscript
way of printing.  i even had it setup, so i would get a nice resolution
(720x720), and the following options (in redhat's printtool):

---
[x] Send EOF after job to eject page?
[ ] Fix stair-stepping text?
[x] Fast test printing (non-PS printers only)?

<>8 <>4 <>2 <x>1 pages per output page

Margins (in pts=1/72 of inch)
Right/Left: 18     Top/Bottom: 18

Extra GS options: -sDEVICE=stcolor -r720x720 -dSpotSize='{1 1 1 1}'
---

anyway, when i tried upgrading ghostscript to the RedHat 5.2 version of
ghostscript-4.03-1, i get the 'funky letters' printing out (as if my
printer is being sent all sorts of crap it doesn't understand...)

ideas?
