There is a slightly poorly-documented interface.  You can send an email
to groupname+subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx to subscribe without a Google
Account, and can post to the list without a Google Account after that.

I will be posting instructions on the group's homepage for how to
participate without a Google Account, if we go that route.
