So, this would be the resulting plea:

I am writing you in regards to a software which my colleagues and I
are very interested in that was written by the University of Nevada
System, specifically Fred Barrie and Steven Foster at the University of
Nevada Reno. The software is known as Veronica, the Internet Gopher
search tool. Gopher today is still alive and well and actually in a bit
of a revival. We have several search engines working and are tuning them
up currently, Jughead in its original state and a newly made V2 which
emulates Veronica. Archie is currently also being worked on by several
members of our community.

For history's sake, as well as the evaluation of this revived
Gopherspace, we could really use the source for the original Veronica
and we would love to keep copies of as much of its development as we
could.

To archive for posterity's sake the original programs used in Gopher's
youth is a goal of many of the members of our community; another goal is
to grow and nurture the new and currently active Gopherspace, and
Veronica is surely wanted by those among that group. For those purposes,
we would like the University of Nevada to release the source to
Veronica.

As the original developers of Veronica no longer seem to be working for
the University, and University Nevada System has reorganised its
computer departments since then, please forward this letter to the
appropriate person.

Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to being contacted by
e-mail at [...]@sdf.lonestar.org, by telephone at [...], or by mail.

\closing{Sincerly,}

How do I hope they will release the source code! I wish you good
luck.
