[Freeciv] compiling freeciv with --enable-client=sdl

Hi,
I'm having trouble compiling freeciv with the option
--enable-client=sdl.
The configure script raises the following error.
checking for sdl-config... /usr/local/bin/sdl-config
checking for SDL - version >= 1.1.4... yes
checking for IMG_Load in -lSDL_image... yes
checking SDL/SDL_image.h usability... yes
checking SDL/SDL_image.h presence... yes
checking for SDL/SDL_image.h... yes
checking for TTF_RenderUNICODE_Blended_Shaded in -lSDL_ttf... no
configure: error: specified client 'sdl' not configurable (SDL_ttf is
needed or you have no patched version of SDL_ttf lib)
I installed the current cvs release of SDL and SDL_ttf. As this did't
work I tried a patch
(http://lists.complete.org/freeciv-dev@xxxxxxxxxxx/2003/04/msg00235.html.gz)
that should fix this problem by changing the freeciv sources, but it
didn't work (the configure script raises the same error).
I can't find a patch that fixes the funtions of SDL_ttf.
Perhaps you can help me.
MfG Steffen
