[Freeciv] Re: Lost control of my ships?

I am not able to right click on any units, I never have been able to.  Right
clicking moves my map around.   Are you playing Freeciv on windows?

Just rightclick on the ship, select unit, move it.

You should switch to Republik _far_ before year 0. It's not
necessary to win against the AI (also it helps) but it is absolutely
necessary to win against other players on the internet ;)
Better govnerments are tricky. In some cases it means that you have
to set a higher luxury rate or make some cities happy by building
temples, cathedrals, colluseums etc. Democracy makes for example makes
it _very_ hard to fight an aggressive war with many units outside of
your cities On the other hand, it allows your cities much better
trade/science/production output and it is defentiely
a must to learn how to handle it, especialy because corruption is reduced
to zero as a democrat. I play civ for almost 5 years now
and my first goal is always republic (I never care much about monarchy).
Only if the situations affords it I switch the goal in between: if you
start alone on a small island, mapmaking would be a good idea; if you
start with several enemies on a continent, horseback riding (horseman),
wheel (chariots) and bronce working (phalanx) can surely help. But in
8 of 10 cases, you should go straight to republic from the beginning.

Still, there is more then one tactic - and you may choose a different
one for yourself :)
