Looks like it's for quick keyboard (or mouseless) selection out of a
list. Just not apparent what it does when theres 2 settlers in a stack
with lots of whitespace to the input box.
Probably in older versions of gtk, but freeciv and gimp are the only gtk
apps I use and I'd never seen it before yesterday.
Just to be safe I'll wait 48 hours before reporting any bugs in the
future so I don't look like a total dumbass too often :P.
