  Oh dear.

You may close this ticket with status "resolved/not-a-bug".

  1. Cygwin configure method works just fine.

  2. Compiling programs to be used with cygwin GTK+-2 does not require
"-mms-bitfields" compiler flag - opposite in fact; it breaks things.

All this time my problems were due to different gtk+ runtimes
installed to my windows, originally installed for different non-cygwin
versions of freeciv. Once I removed them from my PATH (so I can't use
non-cygwin freeciv versions at the moment) and installed all the cygwin
packages freeciv compilation required, everything started to work.

Hmm... since there currently is a lot of documentation mentioning how
those third party gtk+ runtimes are reuired for mingw32 compilations,
maybe it would be good thing to make clear that it's only mingw32 that
requires them, cygwin versions do not work with them.
