I always build with --disable-nls (and other options) and usually it all
works. But today (after a very recent cvs up -- minutes ago), I get
that the makefile in doc wants to recurse into the per-language
subdirectories. Of course, when it does that, the recursive make finds
no makefile and fails. I just re-ran autogen.sh and that didn't fix
things. I'd offer a patch but I don't know the build system.
